What is a continual improvement process?

Series of actions or operations of a systematic and periodic nature to improve products, services or processes. There are many methodologies for the management of continuous improvement, but the Deming cycle - which consists of planning, doing, checking and acting (Plan-Do-Check-Act, PDCA) - is one of the most extended.
