What is cognitive walkthrough?

Method for assessing the usability of a design or interactive system by way of the performance of tasks, with the aim of identifying errors or areas where there is room for improvement. The aim is to see how users behave when they use an interface for the first time. A cognitive walkthrough can be carried out by an expert in usability or by way of a test session with users, whether remotely or in person. The person conducting the test, whether an expert or a user, ‘walks’ through a series of tasks supported by the system (such as a search process, the payment mechanism at an e-commerce, filling out and submitting a form, or buying tickets).
