This is an irrational number represented by the Greek letter φ (phi) (lower case) or Φ (Phi), which was used by classical artists to compose their works because they considered it to be a manifestation of perfection and aesthetics.
Nowadays it is used in fields as diverse as art and photography or web design. In this latter case, the formula is applied to defining the proportions of the contents of websites, their height or any area or part of the site, thereby obtaining perfect proportions. For example, if we select a body of 12 for text and multiply this by 1.618, we find that the most well-proportioned body for the headline is 19.
