What is a subdomain?

Web address which works like the annex (or related site) of a domain and which typically takes the form of http://subdomain.domain_main.extension. A sub-domain helps to categorize the content of a website and allows the creation of a shortcut to a particular section within it. For example: http://diccionario.zorraquino.com.
