A truncation of the expression "weblog".

Is a system for publishing text online, enabling content to be updated periodically and presented in reverse chronological order. Each article, called a post, can use text, video or graphics and tend to include the option to post comments, promoting interaction with the public. No knowledge of programming or special software are required to edit a blog thanks to the content management systems (CMS) available on the Internet. Their status as a platform for free expression and their accessibility have contributed to their proliferation, making blogs the most successful Web 2.0 application.

A blog can adopt multiple styles: personal, informational, journalistic, and even corporate.
