What is meta description?

HTML label used to describe the content of a URL on a website or blog, with the aim of informing search engines and visitors to the website. It is also the text shown by Google just under the title of each result in its searches and which, provided that it is well-written, consists of a description or preview of what is contained on the link page. Ideally each URL should contain a unique meta description and this should include the keyword for the page.

It is also advisable that it should be worded in a way that is attractive to users, given that it serves as a hook. Technically speaking, it is added inside the <head></head> block.
