What is POP3 or Post Office Protocol in email?

Central e-mail administrator allowing messages stored in an in-box to be retrieved. E-mails sent to a user account are stored by the POP3 server. When a user who knows the POP3 address, the user name, and the password connects to this server, the POP3 server transfers the messages to the reader and deletes them from the in-box. POP stands for Post Office Protocol, and the number 3 indicates the version.
