Collaborative funding mechanism for startup companies, similar to crowdfunding, in which the rewards are replaced by real equity in the company that receives funding. Crowd equity is also referred to as equity crowdfunding, crowd-investing or investment crowdfunding. It is often subject to financial regulation.
